1. Art that exists only once

Personal art can be created during the wedding – or only afterwards.

2. After-wedding shoot – or trash the dress

An after-wedding shoot brings the wedding clothes out of the closet again – this time without a schedule, waiting guests, or the question of whether the next item on the program is about to begin.

This also allows for locations and ideas that would be difficult to implement on the wedding day itself. And for those who aren't keen on the idea of "keeping wedding clothes clean and tidy in the closet forever," there's another way to go.

For example, trash-the-dress photoshoots involve taking photos in the sea or mud, using Holi colors, or during action painting.

As a gift, I would suggest giving a budget or a gift certificate and letting the couple choose the photographer themselves. The photographic style should ultimately suit them.

Cost: Roughly 300 to 1,500 euros or more. The photographer, duration, location, and complexity can significantly influence the price.

3. Have the wedding bouquet preserved

A wedding bouquet isn't just meant to be dried in the traditional way. Professional vendors can press real flowers and create personalized pictures and other keepsakes.

Anyone wanting to give this as a gift should take action before the wedding . Depending on the method, the flowers need to be stored or shipped properly as soon as possible after the celebration. A gift certificate alone is of little use if the wedding bouquet has spent a week sitting on the windowsill.

Costs: Depending on size, workmanship and design, from small double-digit amounts to several hundred euros.

4. A shared tattoo experience

A tattoo works perfectly as a wedding gift – as long as no one gets the idea to book the design and appointment at the same time. 😄

If tattoos are already a good fit for the couple, you could give them a joint studio appointment or a corresponding budget instead. They don't have to be identical matching tattoos. Related designs, a shared symbol, or two completely different tattoos done on the same day are all possibilities.

Cost: From approximately €200 for two small tattoos to €2,000 and significantly more. Size, design, complexity, and tattoo artist make a huge difference.

5. Shrink the pair once, please!

Miniature figures can now be produced with astonishing individuality. Different methods are used depending on the supplier.

6. Have a piece of family history restored

Sometimes the personalized wedding gift has existed for decades. It just needs someone to take care of it.

This could be an old pocket watch belonging to a grandparent, a small piece of furniture from the parents' house, jewelry, a music box, a painting, or a damaged family album.

Even old photos can be professionally restored, colorized, and remastered to a high standard. Photos that have a connection to past weddings or shared family history are particularly interesting.

Costs: It's difficult to give a reliable general price range here. While simple photo restoration can be relatively inexpensive, complex work on watches, jewelry, paintings, or furniture can cost several hundred to over 2,000 euros.

7. Finally digitize the box of old family videos

VHS tapes. MiniDV. Super 8. Slides. Negatives. And since about 2008, someone in the family has been saying:

"We really need to digitize this."

But nobody does.

A wedding is a pretty good reason to finally commission just that. Photos from the couple's childhood, old family celebrations, and weddings of previous generations are particularly interesting.

Those who want to go a step further can then sort the material or have selected recordings professionally edited. Because 37 files with names like VIDEO_0047_FINAL2 may technically constitute a family archive, but it's not a particularly inviting one.

Costs: Often around 10 to 30 euros per cassette or medium. For larger collections, special formats, restoration, or additional video editing, this can become a project costing several hundred euros.
